Significance of the project

Thanks to the elimination of port functions in the Delta and Port of Baroš, spatial location and potential of this area should be directed towards the creation of a new and distinctive part of the city center that will be its content, layout and quality of public spaces become the site of a new identity, and active coexistence of citizens and seam and grow local boundaries and position City of Rijeka as an example of successful transformation of port cities in the Mediterranean. To achieve the objectives described, only the Southern Delta opened the possibility of building about 200,000 m² gross space of new buildings and the marina Baroš some 50,000 m².

The project involves the following construction activities

• Central city park area of 4 ha in North Delta.
• Various town facilites (residental, commercial, retail, hospitality, entertainment, hotel, city multipurpose hall, an aquarium) in South Delta, an area of 10 ha.
• Marina Baroš area of about 10 ha.

Realization model

Maritime domain concession needs to be obtained.

Physical planning documents:

• The implementation of a public international tender for urban and architectural design of the Delta and Port of Baroš will be completed in November 2013th. Upon its completion of the Port of Rijeka Authority will publish a tender for the concession areas of the Delta and Port of Baroš.
